Lloyds TSB are lobbying for renegotiation of (or, in Standard English, threatening to renege on) the terms of the Glorious Successor's glorious bailout of the free market. Shareholders who have been receiving "healthy twice-yearly payments" are irritated at the prospect of having to return money to the taxpayer before they are allowed to receive more. It appears that this was a condition imposed on an unwilling Gordon by the neo-Napoleonic perpetrators of the single currency, the Social Chapter and the Human Rights Act; so it is more than possible that a fairness-enhancing readjustment (or, in Standard English, a cave-in) may yet take place.
